Our Story
Meet the cat brand that actually puts cats first. Kind of a no-brainer, right? Smalls makes food that’s ~actually~ good for your cat, in an experience that works for you, too.
In Big Pet Food, cat-health has always come after cost, convenience, dog diets, and marketing fads. Not at Smalls. We put big profit margins and fake mews aside in favor of what they truly need, crave, and deserve.
History of Pet Food
1920
Spratt’s—originally a dog biscuit company—sees an opportunity to make money by repackaging their dog food formulas for cat households.
1950
After WWII rations limit tin can and meat availability, brands like General Mills think to apply cereal- making processes to pet food. Despite cats’ natural need for moisture, we are made to believe that kibble is the healthiest option.
2017
A couple of guys are home-cooking cat food in small batches for friends. After a few weeks on what is now Smalls Human-Grade Fresh, a cat known only as “Ulcer Cat” is a-okay and ulcer-free. A few short years, a few more Ulcer Cats, and a few *million* meals later, and Smalls isn’t small-batch anymore.

We cook high-protein food using only USDA-certified, humanely-harvested, sustainably-sourced ingredients, maintaining all of the nutrients cats need to be healthy. And, turns out, they reaaally like it.
We’re a team of cat folks.
Together, we are proudly bringing humans closer to their cats. We’re here to offer the customer experience we never got, the education we most want, and a community of likeminded friends—furry or not.
