July 4th celebration held annually on the closest weekend to July 4th. Fort Davis is the Highest & coolest Town in Texas in July. The weekend includes a parade, Saturday night dance, exciting Old West gunfights, good food and quality vendors, children’s games, and fireworks. Most wanted: children’s entertainment and games. dunking booth, rock wall, giant slide, jumpers, train or pony rides, etc.
Friday, July 2nd – Vendors around the Courthouse lawn open at noon. Don’t miss the fireworks extravaganza over the beautiful Davis Mountains of west Texas from the Jeff Davis County Park, beginning after dark. Bring your family and meet up with friends for this awesome show!
Saturday, July 3rd – The Great Parade begins at 10a, including the Calvary Mounted Color Guard from Fort Davis National Historic Site. Flag lowering and evening gun ceremony at the Fort at 4:30p. Vendors and live music on the Courthouse lawn until 6p. Jody Nix returns to the Kelly Pavillion with his famous western swing from 9p to 1a.
Sunday, July 4th – Join us on the Courthouse lawn for a LIVE show from DJ Pancho and Robert Alvarez of KALP 92.7 FM – the guys always entertain with great music. Have fun with games and competitions on the best grass in the Trans-Pecos. Food and craft vendors open until 6p.
Monday, July 5th – Run (or walk!) for a good cause. The Coolest 5k/1k in Texas is back again at the County Park, benefitting Fort Davis Higher Education Foundation. The 1k portion kicks off at 8:15a, the 5k at 8:30a. Interested participants may register online at PERMIANBASINEVENTS.com, FDISD.com, or register on the day of the race in person.
